I'm working as a temp: who do I notify when I'm ill?

You're working for company X, but in the upper right hand corner of your contract there's the temp agency's logo. Who do you work for then? Well, legally you're employed by the temp agency, but of course the company where you carry out that work likes to know when you can't come into work, as well.

That's why it's important to not only notify the temp agency when you're ill, but also the company where you carry out your job. Temp agencies usually have a set procedure to follow when you fall ill, and you can find that in their work rules or company handbook. By correctly following this procedure, you ensure that the payment for your sick days also runs smoothly.
