Should I Stay Loyal to One Temp Agency?

When you're looking for work, a temp agency can help you find a job that suits you. But there are thousands of temp agencies out there. Where do you go? And can you sign up with more than one agency at the same time?

There are hundreds of brands, and together they have more than 10,000 offices. So where do you go? It all depends on what you're looking for!

Do all temp agencies do the same thing?

No! Some agencies specialize in certain sectors: construction, hospitality, cleaning, industry, administration... You can often guess this specialization from the agency's name.

For example, an agency with "construct" in its name specializes in the construction sector. So, if you're looking for a job in administration, there's not much you can do in such an agency, but you'll be in the right place if you're a bricklayer or plasterer.

These specialized agencies are often part of a larger temp agency brand. When you visit a temp agency's website, you'll often see the specialized agencies that are part of it.

Of course, there are also agencies that do a bit of everything. If you're open to different types of jobs, or if you're not sure what you want to do yet, then these agencies are for you.

Can I sign up with multiple agencies?

Of course! You don't have to sign up with just one agency and wait for them to find you a job. You can also apply to multiple temp agencies at the same time. These agencies all have different clients and therefore different opportunities. If you're looking for a job quickly, it's best to sign up with multiple agencies. Just be aware that the more you apply, the more you may be contacted. So make sure you can handle that.
